MFL (Modern Foreign Languages)

Spanish at Kilnwood Vale School 

The National Curriculum states that teaching of a modern foreign language in Key Stage 2 should focus on enabling pupils to gain knowledge and skills in one language. The teaching should provide an appropriate balance of spoken and written language and should lay the foundations for further foreign teaching at Key Stage 3. 

At Kilnwood Vale, we will provide a stimulating and exciting learning journey to help children develop the knowledge and skills to understand, speak, read and write Spanish. We will enable pupils to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing. Our language teaching will nurture a love of Spanish, as well as a passion for learning further languages, cultural curiosity and a secure foundation of skills and knowledge.
