Music
Music at Kilnwood Vale
At Kilnwood Vale , our intent is that music engages, inspires and enables all children to develop both musical talent and a lifelong love of music.
As they learn to express themselves through singing, playing, improvising and composing, children will develop the self-confidence to share their skills and creativity.
Our children are invited to attend a weekly music club which fosters our children’s passion for music and gives them further opportunities to improve their skills.
Our music curriculum offers many different activities around the same musical concepts which are repeated and revisited over time, enabling a more secure, deeper knowledge and mastery of music skills.
We celebrate diversity through the development of our children’s knowledge of music across a variety of genres, traditions and historical periods.
We develop oracy skills as children are exposed to appropriate musical terms and are encouraged to use these when discussing a range of music pieces.
We celebrate music and singing through performance and give our children opportunities to share their skills with different audiences in class assemblies and musical productions.
At Kilnwood Vale we believe these experiences enhance creativity, thinking skills and communication, as well as nurture our children’s health and well-being.
